My first time at Hedonism II with Swinkation: Seven days of sex, sunshine and self-discovery

I've been involved in the swinger lifestyle for years. I've organized orgies, visited countless sex clubs, interviewed sex educators, and witnessed some pretty outrageous things.

You'd think there wouldn't be much left that could surprise me.

Well, apparently Hedonism II had other plans.

Steve (DJ Slim) and I headed to Hedonism II in Negril, Jamaica, for our very first visit, as part of a collaboration with Swinkation, an organized lifestyle vacation bringing together swingers, kinksters, educators, and a whole bunch of wonderfully open-minded people.

Our collaboration included sponsorship support from Swinkation, although we paid a significant portion of the trip's expenses ourselves.

And holy shit, what an adventure!

Welcome to Hedonism II!

If you've never heard of Hedonism II, imagine an all-inclusive Jamaican resort with beautiful beaches, tropical sunshine, unlimited drinks, themed parties, and a whole lot of naked people.

There's a clothing-optional side (affectionately called the prude side) and a nude side, where bathing suits are NOT an option.

Guess which side made me nervous?

But more on that later.

We spent our first days exploring the resort, checking out the restaurants, pools, beaches, and nightlife, and getting to know the people we'd be spending the week with.

And thanks to Swinkation, we didn't have to figure everything out on our own.

Swinkation: Basically swinger summer camp

One of the biggest highlights of this vacation wasn't the resort itself.

It was the people.

Swinkation organized an incredible week of educational workshops, social events, themed parties, games, and opportunities to connect with other lifestyle enthusiasts.

I attended workshops about consent, relationships, communication, kink, and sexual exploration. I watched people suspended in ropes, experienced live BDSM demonstrations, and even participated in a little wax play.

Steve got to DJ, and I got to lead an intrusive questions game that encouraged people to open up and get to know one another.

There were outrageous competitions, hilarious conversations, and more than a few moments when I thought, Well, that's something you don't see every day!

But what really impressed me was how welcoming everyone was.

Nobody cared whether you were an experienced swinger, a curious newcomer, or someone who just wanted to hang out and make friends.

I started calling it swinger summer camp, and honestly, that's exactly what it felt like.

Except summer camp never had quite this many naked people.

The unexpected challenge: Me!

Here's something I didn't see coming.

I'm Toronto Unicorn. I'm a body-positive, sex-positive educator who has spent years encouraging people to embrace their sexuality and live unapologetically.

And yet, I found myself struggling with the idea of getting naked at the resort's nude pool.

Yep. Even I have insecurities.

My first attempt lasted about 15 minutes before I was ready to leave.

It wasn't that anyone made me feel unwelcome. Quite the opposite! Everyone was incredibly kind.

It was my own internal dialogue that was getting in the way.

But something shifted during the week.

I eventually decided to return to the nude side, not because anyone pressured me, but because I wanted to.

And this time, I felt different.

I relaxed. I enjoyed myself. And when my new friends realized what a big moment this was for me, they celebrated right along with me.

I went to Hedonism expecting to explore a resort.

I didn't expect to explore my own relationship with vulnerability.

Funny how that works.

Seven days I'll never forget

By the end of the week, I was exhausted.

Not because I hadn't enjoyed myself, but because seven days of socializing, learning, partying, and stepping outside my comfort zone had taken a lot out of this introvert!

I had met incredible people, experienced things I'd never encountered before, and discovered that even after years in the lifestyle, there's still so much to learn about myself.

And just when I thought the adventure was over, our trip home included an unexpected encounter with Jamaican police and a drug-sniffing dog.

Because apparently, my vacations can't end normally.

Would I go back?

What surprised me most about Hedonism wasn't the nudity, the parties, or the sexual freedom.

It was the kindness.

The people who welcomed us, the friendships we made, and the genuine encouragement I received when I challenged myself.

A huge thank-you to Swinkation for collaborating with us and introducing us to such an incredible community.

Hedonism gave me plenty of wild stories.

But Swinkation gave me something I wasn't expecting: a sense of belonging.

And that might be my favourite souvenir of all. ❤️
